  • Starbucks changed its reward system. Using a SBUX card (stored value card), you previously earned 2x stars vs a credit/debit card 1x. Now, all transactions earn 1x, but you get a 10-star bonus if you add $30 or more to an SBUX card. Doesn’t seem worth it to recharge the card.

  • Really great that they donate so much to medicine in Austin, but the naming scheme could use some work. Austin will have:

    • Dell Children’s Medical Center (with another “Dell Children’s North Austin Medical Center”)
    • Dell Seton Medical Center
    • UT Dell Medical Center
    • Seton Medical Center

    Which hospital is the one next to the UT campus and the Dell Medical School? Dell Seton. Where’s UT Dell? Over by the Domain. Oh, near the Dell Children’s North Austin? No.

  • Rode in my first autonomous vehicle today (to pick up the disabled minivan from the shop). I’d say a good, focused human driver is better today, but it was better than the average human on a normal day.

  • The cold-calling “business funding advisor” who tried to argue with me that our local non-profit youth baseball program should use his services… My brother, trust me, you are barking up the wrong tree.

  • The minivan has some electrical glitch somewhere. Both main and auxiliary battery have gone bad twice now in the four years we’ve owned it.
