API Key Authentication has arrived...

Introducing API Keys

You can now authenticate with the Keyword Insights API using long-lived API keys, available to Premium plan users at no additional cost.

Unlike Bearer tokens, API keys do not expire and are purpose-built for scripts, automations, and third-party integrations like n8n, Make, or custom Python workflows.

What's new:

You can generate and manage API keys directly from the API Keys section in your dashboard.

Each key is displayed once at creation, so make sure to store it securely. Once saved, you authenticate by passing the key in the X-API-Key header with every request, replacing the previous Authorization: Bearer header.

It is a one-line change in your existing code.

A note on Bearer tokens:

Bearer token authentication continues to work and we are not setting a hard deadline for removal.

That said, we strongly encourage all users to migrate to API keys at their earliest convenience, as Bearer tokens are now deprecated and will eventually be phased out.

We’ve shipped another round of personalisation upgrades to the AI Writer Agent.

The goal is simple: generate articles that sound more like your business, stay aligned with what you actually offer, and better reflect the context you’re writing for.

What’s improved

Stronger, more relevant calls to action

The AI Writer Agent now produces clearer calls to action that better match the intent of the page and the outcome you want from readers.

CTAs are written to feel natural inside the article, instead of tacked on at the end, and they’re shaped around your brand positioning and tone.

Better control over what gets mentioned

The AI Writer Agent is now more cautious about drifting into topics that don’t match your business.

It actively avoids referencing features or services you don’t provide, helping keep content accurate and on-brand.

No competitor mentions

The AI Writer Agent is now more reliably filtered to avoid mentioning competitors, alternative tools, or other third-party brands that can dilute the message or pull attention away from your product.

More emphasis on your company’s services and features

Instead of generic writing, the AI Writer Agent now prioritizes weaving in your actual services and capabilities throughout the article where it makes sense, not just in one section.

This improves relevance, positioning, and conversion intent without making the piece read like an ad.

Cluster-aware keyword enrichment

If you run the AI Writer Agent from a cluster, it will now pull keywords from that cluster and intelligently incorporate them into the article.

This includes:

•   Using cluster keywords where they fit naturally in headings and subheadings
•   Adding supporting terms throughout the body without stuffing
•   Expanding sections to better cover the related terms and themes from the cluster
•   Improving topical depth so the article aligns more closely with the full cluster context

Why it matters

These updates help you publish content that is more accurate, more on-brand, and more aligned with your business goals, while also improving coverage when you’re writing from a keyword cluster.

Call to action

Try generating an article again with the AI Writer Agent, especially from a cluster, and compare the output. You should see stronger alignment with your services, cleaner CTAs, and better keyword integration throughout the piece.

AI Writer Agent can now turn your custom brief into content

Your briefs, our writer. You can now generate a content brief and hand it straight to the AI Writer Agent to write the draft from your custom structure and instructions. Same powerful writer, but now it follows your brief.

Once your brief is completed, click 'Writer An Article' and the agent will take care of the rest.

Keyword Discovery now filters out irrelevant keywords automatically

Less noise, more signal.

Keyword Discovery will now automatically remove keywords that aren’t relevant to your business, so you spend less time cleaning lists and more time finding the opportunities that matter.

Introducing Secondary Keywords

Based on customer feedback, we’ve introduced Secondary Keywords across Content Briefs, the AI Writer Agent, and the Writer Assistant.

You can now add up to five secondary keywords, and each one will automatically be turned into an H2 in your outline, then used to guide content expansion and writing.

We recommend keeping this list tight and only including the most relevant terms, since adding generic keywords can dilute the outline and negatively impact output quality.

Increased topic coverage for AI Writer Agent

AI Writer Agent now delivers stronger topic coverage when writing articles.

Previously, the agent focused on covering the most important topics, which typically resulted in an average grade of B.

With this update, it aims to reach around 90% topic coverage and achieve an A grade.

Meaning your article is now much closer to publish-ready and comes fully optimized for the topical layer.

New Keyword Discovery

We know Keyword discovery has not been the best experience and you have been clear about that. We listened and rebuilt it. Here is what is changing.

You can now run a new Keyword discovery search and get search volume, trend, and CPC data upfront. There is no need to spend additional credits just to unlock search volume.

Now the important part. What do you do with these keywords?

Maybe you want to edit, filter, and remove irrelevant keywords before clustering them.

Introducing Keyword Lists

We have added a dedicated Keyword list feature where you can manage all of your keywords in one place for each workspace.

You can create a new keyword list or add keywords to an existing list.

You can access your keyword lists directly from the side navigation.

Once you have finalized your keywords, you can send them for clustering with a single click.

You now also have the ability to delete any keyword directly from a list.

We have also improved our keyword collection techniques. This means you will now get up to double the number of keywords per search, increasing the average from around 2,000 to 4,000.

Please note that this still depends on your seed keywords and in some cases results may be lower.

Because we are now providing more keywords and full search volume data upfront, the cost for running a Keyword discovery search is 1,000 credits per search. This is still cheaper than what we charged before, with significantly more value included.

But this is not the end of it. We are actively working on improving Keyword discovery with the following features coming in January 2026.

•   Automatically filter out irrelevant keywords based on your workspace
•   Better search volume coverage
•   Ability to move keywords between different lists
•   Ability to import keywords from other tools into Keyword lists

Introducing cluster user journey mapping

We’ve introduced a smarter way to understand where each cluster sits in a customers decision journey.

The system now evaluates a cluster through the lens of the business context, the cluster itself, and the detected search intent. From there, it automatically assigns the keyword to one of three funnel stages: Top of Funnel(TOFU), Middle of Funnel (MOFU), or Bottom of Funnel(BOFU).

How It Works

TOFU: Keywords focused on learning, exploring, or identifying a problem. These users aren’t solution shopping yet.

MOFU: Keywords showing comparison, evaluation, or early buying interest. These often include pricing, reviews, best, alternatives, etc.

BOFU: Keywords showing clear action intent such as buy, sign up, order, book a demo, brand coupon, etc.

What's the use case?

You can apply the filter to quickly find all clusters that match a specific user journey. For example, if you want to uncover top of funnel content opportunities, you can apply both the TOFU filter and the Informational search intent filter.

Filter Clusters by Intent Mismatch

You can now quickly filter clusters where the dominant intent either matches or does not match the top ranking URL.

What's the use case?

With this new filter, you can quickly identify clusters with intent misalignment. This helps you create the right type of content that matches the user intent.

In this example you can see that exterior steel french doors cluster has an average ranking of 64 and the dominant intent is commercial however their current ranking top url is a transactional page.

  • We improved our AI Writer Agents so their article introductions are more varied in word choice, paragraph length and topic exploration. We also removed the use of em and en dashes to make the output feel less like AI generated content.

Previously, when you cancelled a subscription, your account stayed active until the end of the billing cycle. But you couldn’t resume it until the cancellation fully processed.

We’ve fixed that.

You can now click “Resume” at any time before the cancellation date to instantly reactivate your subscription and continue without interruption.

Previously, when creating an AI Writer agent order from a cluster, transactional intents incorrectly defaulted to long form article content.

We’ve fixed this.

Now, when you select a transactional keyword from clustering and send it to the AI Writer agent, it will automatically default to landing page content, saving you time and ensuring the right content type for the intent.

Smarter Clustering with Irrelevant Cluster Detection

We improved clustering accuracy to help you focus only on what matters.

Previously, large reports with tens of thousands of keywords often returned clusters unrelated to your site, forcing you to spend hours cleaning lists and removing irrelevant topics.

With this update, your clustering results are now more precise and aligned with your domain from the start, saving you time and manual effort.

When you run a clustering report, our system now analyses your results using your workspace context to identify and tag irrelevant clusters before you even review them.

In this example you can see "financial modelling" and "modelling clay" are automatically tagged as irrelevant given the workspace is around a "fashion modelling"

We also added a handy quick filter button here. So you run a clustering, click this button and click export. That's it.

We completely overhauled the export experience to make it faster, cleaner, and more reliable.

As our cluster export sheet grew from 10 to over 40 data columns, our old export system often ran into Google Sheets row limits and struggled with larger reports, especially when pivot tables were involved. We also heard from many of you who preferred raw CSV files for easier integration into your own workflows and scripts.

The new export feature solves all of this, letting you export large datasets smoothly to CSV or Sheets without limitations. It’s faster, more stable, and built for scale.

Now you will see 2 simple export options.

1. Export Full Project – Export all project data, including pivot tables, with or without applied filters. You can choose to download it as a Google Sheet or Excel file.

2. Export Raw Data (Non-Pivoted) – Export all project data without pivot tables, with or without applied filters. Selecting this option enables the CSV export button, allowing you to download the complete dataset in raw CSV format directly from our servers.

Understand If Your Existing Content Truly Matches Search Intent

When you run clustering, you see the dominant intent and the top ranking URL for that cluster.

But what if you could understand the intent behind that top ranking URL and see if it aligns with your dominant intent?

That is exactly what we have achieved.

Why This Matters?

Search intent drives everything. When you look at a cluster and identify the dominant intent, it guides the type of content you need to create to rank.

We then show you the current ranking URLs and highlight the most dominant one in the cluster.

This lets you see if your existing page truly satisfies the user’s intent.

If it does and you are still not ranking high, then the issue lies elsewhere.

You may need to improve your on-page and off-page SEO, update your content, strengthen internal linking, or build quality backlinks.

But we are taking it a step further..

You will now see the intent for all ranking URLs within a cluster.

This allows you to check if you already have another page that aligns better with the dominant intent.

If you do, focus on improving that page instead of creating new content.

If none of your URLs match the dominant intent, then it is time to create a new piece that does.

Note: Keep in mind that Google often shows fragmented intent (different types of intent within the top ten results for a keyword) Always review this carefully before deciding what to update or create next.
